These are Generation II in the Willoughcraft Drum Company exclusive brass hoop series.
Stick Chopper hoops were the staple of many companies dating back to the turn of the century. Used by
Slingerland on the revered Radio King drums and also by Gretsch on the fabulous Broadkaster drums so
heralded today. Ludwig Black Beauties, Leedy classics and many other fine drums also featured single or
double flange stick choppers. Many companies hoops were made a bit thinner than this new model which
will not suffer the bending & twisting that often occurred on the thinner vintage pieces.
The sound is warm and resounding with a rich harmonious resonance
Rim shots and cross sticking sounds are much more musical and vibrant than with standard steel hoops.
These hoops, just as in our Generation I series triple flanged hoops, are beautifully chrome plated.
Brass also has the added perk of plating much nicer than steel or die cast and without the worry of
pitting and rust inherent in hoops of low quality metal compositions.
